Dmitry Strakovsky was born in St.Petersburg, Russia. At a young age he had a unique opportunity to study at the Hermitage, St Petersburg. His family emigrated to the United States in 1988. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts at Illinois Wesleyan University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition he studied in Salzburg, Austria and Nagoya, Japan. In 2001 he received a Masters of Fine Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dmitry currently lives and works in Chicago, producing work in various media concentrating primarily on digital imaging, networked media, video, sound/kinetic sculpture and environments.
